How to Hem Jeans {the easy way}: Tutorial

 If you are like me, it can be hard almost impossible to find pants.
When I find a good pair of jeans, I have to get them... even if they are too long.
Being that I'm only 5 feet tall they usually are too long...
After a few years i got tired of paying someone else to hem my jeans.
So I learned to do it myself.
The difference between hemming jeans and other pants is that if you hem a pair of jeans you lose the classic jean hem that they all have at the bottom.
But not when you do it this way!

Here we go!

What you need:
1.Jeans (ha duh)
2.Pins
3.Thread in a matching color to your jeans
4. Sewing Machine
5.something to cut the thread

1. First youll need to measure how much length you need off your jeans. I do this by folding them while they are on and pinning them.
2. Next I take them off and turn them inside out.
3. Then MEASURE the length off so it is equal all the way around {this part is important unless you want your jeans to be all uneven lengths} :) You'll want to add an extra 1/2 inch to make up for the old hem you'll have showing at the end.
 4.  Re-pin

5.Take the folded flap and fold it down a little more than half of the length so that the old jean hem peaks over the edge of what would have been a new hem

{You Might want you try them back on at this point to make sure its a good length.}

6. Flip jeans back right side out and sew along the flap.  {The closer you get the less you can see it.}
7. Bravo! Put your jeans on and see how awesome they are!!

Crafty Pom Pom Necklace.

So one of my favorite crafty blogs had a tutorial this week on making Pom Pom Flower necklaces or headbands or anything really.

Here is my version of her necklace- I added tulle to the pompoms instead of just using cotton like the tutorial says. you really can use anything. Ill put the link to her page at the bottom of this post :) Sorry some of the pics are blurry, my camera had a hard time focusing.

My messy work station/coffee table

Made a few of these Pom Poms!

Starting the to-do list!

The one thing we love most about having a house is having a backyard. Sora enjoys this also... too much! the dogs next door and Sora go at it on either side of the fence like maniacs. They bark and growl and claw at the fence and stare each other down. Because of this Joe and I have been walking Sora... in the backyard on a leash so he will go potty and not go crazy! THIS SUCKS FOR US! we thought "if only Sora and those dogs couldn't see each other.. maybe they would calm down..." We didn't plan to put up another set of planks onto the fence until spring- but the dogs on the other side of the fence broke a few planks as they were body slamming it the other day. boo....

So today it was about 50 degrees and relatively sunny, so we decided to try and get it done. Well we didn't get it DONE but we sure got a good start! Sora looked really confused as he watched us drill the screws in and put up new boards staggering the old ones! no peaking now for him!!

Here are some Pictures:

The Fence wasn't ugly- but it definitely didn't provide much privacy.

There was soooo much of this. we could only fit 80 of these planks in the car. we will have to go back tomorrow to get more.

CLOSE UP! I have to say the fence looks awesome now!

We got halfway done with this side (we didn't actually get started until about 330... after and hour and half it was FREEZING OUTSIDE. we had to call it quits for tonight.

Looks good though right?!?!?!?
