How to Get to Tuscany

One of my favorite stories and least favorite moments of our trip to Italy was our journey to Tuscany.  Only to be surpassed by our journey back to the USA [that will come later].

On July 14th Joe and I headed to the train station at 7 am to catch our train to Firenze (Folorence).  We took our seats and relaxed, thinking it would be a quick and calm hour and a half ride.  It was only after a few minutes that a rather ogreish Italian woman boarded the train and began yelling.  She walked up behind Joe and began to bang on the headrest of his chair.  [I would tell you what she was saying but it was all Italiano].  However, we were able to deduct that she wanted Joe's seat for herself. Being the nice guy that I fell in love with Joe moved seats after a few minutes of me arguing with the lady (ha).   After Joe scooched over a seat the ogre threw her newspaper down in Joes seat and then threw her backpack down in the seat across the isle and left the train.

It was at this point I thought to myself "this crazy lady just wants to sit by her friend! pffft"  Needless to say I grabbed her newspaper and moved it to her other chair.
Joe switched back to his assigned seat and I pulled out our tickets to show the woman when she returned that that was indeed our seat.  [I was Ready!]

Only a few minutes later did we hear her voice, once again yelling.  After a few minutes of back and forth about the seats, her mother [we assume] began to whine and complain in Italian about the chair as well.  However we noticed at this point that the old lady had an oxygen tank.  So we gave in and Joe moved over a seat.

After an hour and a half on the train we reached our stop in Firenze.  We asked the old woman to move so we could get off, grabbed our luggage and headed to the exit.  It was only as we approached the exit that the doors closed and the train began to move again...  You might be asking yourself, wait... they missed their stop? YES! we did!! ooooooh nooo.

I pretty much freaked out and asked a guy who worked on the train to stop the train:

Me: "Uh our hotel is in Firenze... we were supposed to get off back there. We were trying to get to the Doors"

Him: "You are Tardy, next stop is 30 minutes"
Me: WHAT?!?!?!

Fortunately for us, the man had the train stop 5 minutes later and unlocked the door for just us to get off in Firenze.  We got off somewhere strange, found a taxi {after and hour!}, and had it take us to the rental car agency.  While getting the rental car we got some minimal directions [Go Left, go right, go left, go right, go right, get on interstate, follow signs to Siena] to the city we were driving to and went on another adventure.

We made it safely to San Gimigiano.

Once we got there we had to find out where our bed and breakfast was.  We found an Informational bulletin with a Map of the city, w00t w00t!!  We took a picture of the map so that we could follow it to get to our final destination.

After driving around for a good hour and going the wrong way despite having such a wonderful map... we finally made it there at about 12:30 in the afternoon.
Don't get to excited!
We didn't.
Turns out the bed and breakfast is closed from 12-3 pm
UGHHHHHHHHH lol.
At about 3 we finally got into our room and took naps before we headed back into town for dinner.  ZZzzzZzZz

To be continued...
